It feels great and exciting that Marvel Art Gallery has completed its six glorious years. Started in May 2004, Marvel Art Gallery was the pioneer in establishing Ahmedabad’s first ever-professional art gallery. It has brought a revolution in Ahmedabad’s fine arts industry by its efforts of nurturing the budding artist, promoting the promising talent as well as showcasing prominent artists. The Gallery has always believed in giving the best to the investors and art lovers, be it the quality of the artwork, authenticity of a work or the healthy returns on investments. It has been a trendsetter in providing customized services to the clients such as buys back of art works, guaranteed return on investment and a unique provision for art on instalments. For the constant benefit of its art patrons, the gallery regularly showcases innovative works of art, carries out awareness on fine arts and guides on investing in the same with the aid of informative and meticulously designed catalogues.

Since Marvel Art Gallery has always believed in specialization, it has integrated two new divisions namely Marvel Art Space and Marvel Graphic Studio. The Art Space focuses on giving platform to the artist by giving the space on hire, while the Graphic Studio focuses on creating awareness and promoting printmaking.

With this motive the National Printmaking Portfolio was designed, so that the art patrons can enjoy the blend of works by eminent artist and variety of works in printmaking such as Woodcuts, Intaglios, Lithographs, Etchings, Serigraphs etc.

The show focuses on forty one artists from almost every part of India and the portfolio includes the artist such as Ajit Seal, Anandamoy Banerji, Dileep Sharma, DLN Reddy, Hanuman Kambli, Kavita Shah, Nirmalendu Das, Vijay Bagodi, Vilas Shinde, Walter D’Souza and Yogesh Rawal who are immensely qualified in printmaking from top faculties in India and abroad. Asim Pal, Rajan Fulari, and Uttam Basak regularly exhibit their work through solo and group shows, whereas Atin Basak, Avijit Roy, Chippa Sudhakar, Jayanti Rabadia, KR Subbanna, PD Dhumal, Pinaki Barua and Ramendranath Kastha have participated in leading national and international graphics camps.

Jayesh Shukla, Jeram Patel, Jyoti Bhatt, Kavita Nayar and Salil Sahani have received numerous scholarships, awards, fellowships and honours from public and private institutions in India and abroad. One can spot collections of Amit Ambalal, Anupam Sud, Arpana Caur, Dattatraye Apte, Jogen Chowdhary, Rini Dhumal, Sushanta Guha and Vrundavan Solanki with some of the prime auction houses, art galleries, museums and fine art connoisseurs’ around the globe.

Naina Dalal has held a retrospective show in graphics, Jayant Gajera has dedicated more than two decades doing research in his printmaking practises whereas Jai Zharotia has received the life time award in his contribution to fine arts. Sanat Kar has the Kala Vibhushan to his credit while KG Subramanyan and Haku Shah are honoured with the Padmashri award by the President of India.

This is the biggest episode in printmaking ever witnessed by the art fraternity in Ahmedabad and the show shall travel to Baroda, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
